Slim Bone Heru - Manaia Hook Design
Size (mm): 150 L x 25 W
Supplied loose in a cellophane bag. Each piece is individually carved, so variations in colour do occur.
A Heru is a traditional ornamental comb of the Māori of New Zealand. They were carved from a solid piece of either wood or whalebone. They were used by men to fasten their long hair up into top knots.
The Manaia is a symbol of protection, and acts as a guardian against evil. The Hook shape is good for catching good fortune and for safe travel over water.
