Beautiful Extra Large Bone Double Manaia Pendant on an adjustable braided cord.

Size (mm): 38 W x 136 H.

This bone carving is a beautiful piece of Māori jewellery.

Intricately hand carved from beef cattle bone. Carvings of this calibre can only be made by a carver with many years of experience. These carvings are large and make a statement. The pendant hangs on a hand-braided wax cord and the pendant height can be adjusted using the sliding knots.

The carving depicts two Manaia's, a traditional Māori symbol, which is believed to protect the wearer from evil and bring good luck, a guardian. The Manaia is also believed to be a messenger that moves freely between the spirit realm and the human world. This mythological creature is greatly respected in Māori culture and is a predominant motif in bone, wood and greenstone carvings.

Supplied loose in a plastic bag. Each piece is individually carved so slight variations can occur.
